Grandpaw
by J D Bedwell

Seems Grandpaw was forever
On the land.
And was truly a
"Been there, done that"man.

He could tell a hoss's age,
From 50 yards away.
Knew when a cow would
Drop a calf...to the day.

He never seem to rush,
Or have a plan.
But he was truly a
"Been there, done that" man.

In the working pen,
He knew what to do.
Never missed a loop,
For the branding crew.

They say he once,
Shot it out with Villa's band.
Truly he was a
"Been there, done that" man.

Tis sad when shadows
grow long and time goes by,
His kind will be just
Ghost riders in the sky.
